Neta Jackson’s Session:

Thursday, September 27, 3:50 p.m. “Yada Yada Journey”
Using her own experience of creating a cast of characters that grew into three series of novels, Neta offers some tips on creating a fictional world that touches where readers live and leaves them begging for more.

Dave Jackson’s Session:

Tuesday, September 25, 1:30 p.m. “Self-Publishing Pros and Cons”
The publishing world has turned inside out!  E-readers and e-book are taking over the market, and even established authors are self-publishing books, once considered an option only for desperate wannabees.  Dig into the nitty gritty of pros and cons in order to survive this “brave new world.”

Combined Sessions:

Tuesday, September  25, 10:15 a.m. “Authenticity in Your Writing”
Fiction is fiction–but even fiction needs to “ring true.”  Whether you write fiction or non-fiction, authenticity–weaving together relevant themes, accurate details, realistic dialog, honest emotion, and believable characters–also creates a trustworthy foundation that allows your books to be life-chnging. Because authenticity begins with you, the author. Are you real?

Tuesday, September 25, 2:35 p.m. “Your Character’s Character”
Get to know your characters inside out before you begin–and let their character strengths and weaknesses drive your story.

Wednesday, September 26, 1:30 p.m. “Writing as a Team”
This husband and wife writing team have “been there, done that” when it comes to co-writing, not only in various ways with each other but also as”co-authors” for expert resource people, non-writers, and “as told to.” How to determine if this is “By Joe Blow AND You,” or “By Joe Blow WITH YOU.” How to maximize each other’s strengths and work through those “moments of intense fellowship” when you disagree!

Wednesday, September 26, 3:50 p.m. “Whose Point of View?”
The same story may be told quit differently, depending on whose “point of view” you tell it from.  How to choose the right point of view for your novel.

Thursday, September 27, 1:30 p.m. “Show, Don’t Tell–Three Essentials of Dramatic Writing”
“Telling a story isn’t all bad–but using action, dialog, and description to “show” will draw your reader into the story, it’s almost like “being there.”

Friday, September 28, 9:00 a.m. Maranatha Scramble

Dave and Neta Jackson will also be available for a limited number of consultations.
